Officials from the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) and the Uganda Premier League (UPL) have urged UPPC Football Club to strengthen its governance, commercial operations and sporting structures to ensure sustainable growth and long-term success.
The call was made during the club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC) headquarters in Entebbe, where members reviewed the team’s performance in the 2025/26 season and approved plans for the 2026/27 financial year.
Representing FUFA at the meeting, Hajjat Aisha Nalule commended UPPC FC for the progress it has made since gaining promotion to the Uganda Premier League. She, however, noted that maintaining success at the top level will require stronger institutional structures and improved management systems.
Nalule emphasized the importance of good governance, financial accountability, commercial growth and continued investment in football development, saying these elements are critical for clubs seeking long-term stability.
She encouraged the club leadership to establish systems that can support growth both on and off the pitch, noting that successful football clubs are built on strong foundations beyond sporting performance.
Officials from the Uganda Premier League also challenged UPPC FC to diversify its revenue streams, attract more commercial partners and continue investing in player development to remain competitive in Uganda’s top-flight football league.
UPPC FC First Assistant Coach Godfrey Walusimbi said the 2025/26 season represented a major achievement for the club after finishing sixth in the Uganda Premier League with 51 points during its first campaign in the division.
"Our first season in the league has been encouraging. Finishing sixth with 51 points demonstrates the progress the team has made and gives us a strong foundation to build on in the coming seasons," Walusimbi said.
Despite the positive start, UPPC FC President Sarah Nabirye highlighted infrastructure challenges that continue to affect the club’s growth.
She identified the lack of a permanent training ground and home stadium as some of the club’s biggest concerns, saying acquiring its own facilities would improve player development, lower operational costs and strengthen the team’s identity.
Nabirye called upon stakeholders, partners and well-wishers to support the club’s efforts to secure permanent infrastructure that can provide a foundation for sustainable growth.
During the AGM, the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Fahad Lumu, presented a proposed budget of Shs1.2 billion for the 2026/27 financial year.
Lumu said the budget will support key areas including club operations, player welfare, technical programmes, infrastructure development and administrative activities as UPPC FC works to build on the achievements of its maiden Uganda Premier League season.
The budget comes as the club seeks to consolidate its position in the top division and establish itself as a competitive force in Ugandan football.
Members attending the AGM expressed confidence that with improved governance, responsible financial management and continued investment in football development, UPPC FC can compete for greater achievements in future seasons.
